What the Press and Other Artists are Saying About MGC

The Manhattan Girls Chorus sang like angels with exquisite sound and precision. Their eyes reflected a deep understanding and respect for this profoundly spiritual choral symphony.

I love everything about this Chorus! The founding of the Manhattan Girls Chorus was truly an inspiration. These young ladies sing with commitment, understanding and desire to communicate the essence of their music to anyone that can hear them. As they bond among the many cultures they individually represent, they build bridges to the many cultures that are inspired by their performances.

I feel deeply honoured by this exceptional performance – the ensemble singing is quite stunningly beautiful. What an amazing gift is unfolding here. Congratulations to all here – so moving for me as a poet, both to have Kim André Arnesen weave such beauty in his music – and this unforgettable singing. What is so remarkable here is that we experience music, words and performance as a circling, renewing, creative gift of love, each to each – that music and words can, as the beautiful mission statement of Manhattan Girls Chorus affirms, enhance the potential of human lives.

A marvelous performance and video of the piece I wrote to the Manhattan Girls Chorus and Michelle Oesterle together with the poet Euan Tait. Thank you so much Michelle and all the wonderful and gracious MGC girls!

Aside from flawless diction, impeccable intonation and sensitive balance, this performance also contained a deeply spiritual musicality not found in many of the performances I hear. Your young singers should be very proud of their work here, not only because they have, by hard work, gotten all of the technical demands completely under their control, but because they then used that control to create a performance which masterfully reflected the content of their hearts and the purity of their souls. No composer could ask for more. As a fellow human being I applaud and fully support the philosophy behind your ensemble, and as a fellow musician I am deeply impressed with the technical mastery and the fluid, engaging musicianship. You get it! And through your teaching and example, the girls get it too! Bravo.
